About the Event
It's Vata Season! Let's slow down, get grounded, and learn nurturing practices to support us this Fall and Winter season. Â Â
Ayurveda teaches us the importance of living seasonally and using knowledge of the qualities found in nature to bring balance to body, mind, and spirit.  Late Fall and Winter are considered the Vata season. This is a time when Vata qualities can increase in us causing Vata imbalances. These could present as symptoms such as digestive issues (constipation, bloating, gas), dryness in the body (skin, hair, nails), poor circulation (feeling cold), ungroundedness (anxiety, forgetfulness, feeling scattered). This Vata pacifying workshop will give you a brief introduction of Ayurveda philosophy, Vata characteristics/qualities, and imbalances/symptoms. A discussion of daily routines/practices to help pacify Vata will be presented. This workshop will also include a meditation (with focus on the root chakra), pranayama, aromatherapy, affirmations, and supported Restorative postures for grounding. We will end the workshop with a special grounding Savasana (deep rest pose). We will close this workshop experience with a Vata pacifying communal meal that includes an Ayurvedic bowl of Kitchari. This 2.5 hour workshop is limited to 8 students. Please bring a small hand towel and a cozy pair of socks.
