About the Event
The Yamas & Niyamas are Limbs one and two of the Eight Limbs of Yoga according to the Yoga Sutras by Master Yogi Patanjali. These eight limbs are the steps required to obtain oneness with yourself and others.
Join Mandy McGarvey and Lynne Robinson on a journey through these first two limbs of yoga. Quarterly, we will delve into one action of the Yamas & Niyamas starting with the first action of the Yamas, Ahimsa (Non-Violence).
There are 5 Yamas. These actions teach us how to control or retrain or cease certain actions so you can be good to others and the environment. There are also 5 Niyamas. These actions cultivate the qualities that help you be even better towards yourself.
We will use Yin Yoga, Guided Meditation, Journaling, and ending sharing circle as a way to explore and learn about each of the Yamas and Niyamas.
Bring a yoga mat, journal and pen.
Light snacks and wine will be offered at the end of the workshop.
